Jordan Girl Crib ShoesHow to Choose a T-Shirt: Fabric Guide
Hello Everyone! This is my very first blog post….like ever! I’ve not posted a personal blog, Broken Arrow blog and barely even tweet. This will be a new experience for me, but I am really looking forward to trying this whole blogging thing.I have volunteered to hijack Broken Arrow’s blog for awhile to see what I could contribute to our readers. I have worked at Broken Arrow since I was around 15 years old – starting with the Quality Control position. I was the last person to make sure the garments going to the customer were PERFECT!! Talk about a stressful job!! Then, when I was about 18 and graduated high school, I was moved to the office to assist in any task needed from helping customers to filing paperwork. When I went off to college at the University of Iowa, Broken Arrow made it possible for me to work from there emailing customers on evenings and weekends. Finally, 8 year after I started working here, I graduated college and started full time. Boy was I excited to not have the stress of finding a job after school. I worked in sales, then became the sales manger, then art manager, then IT manager, then manager of whatever we needed. That brings me to today. My current job at Broken Arrow is General Manager.I will be talking about what is happing here at the big BA (we call it that sometimes- short for Broken Arrow of course) and in the t-shirt world. Hopefully you will find the blogs interesting and useful. If you have topic ideas, want to know something about the company, or anything at all, let me know! We have the most amazing staff so I will probably talk about them also! To see some of the fun things we are doing, check out our Facebook page online at https://www.facebook.com/BrokenArrowWearTs.Here are some pictures of me so you can put a face to the name (My name is Kortni by the way). This is the staff and I giving a Thumbs Up to Jeans Day, which aims to raise awareness of sexual assault across Iowa. I am the one in the Pink. This is Paul (our production manager) and I recording our newest radio commercial! I’ll try to figure out how to upload that to our Facebook page, otherwise, you can call our sales team and ask for them to put you on hold – it will play then. This is my husband and I on our wedding day in November 2009. We’ve almost been married 5 years! Time sure flies when you are having fun. That’s all for now, I think my next blog post will be on How to Buy for Groups. That is also super tricky but we have some really great insider tips.Until Next Time,Kortni

Broken Arrow T-Shirt Selection Guide Part 2Are you choosing the right T-shirt for your needs? What are the differences between performance T-shirts and other T-shirts? Should you choose a tri-blend T-shirt, a 100 percent cotton T-shirt, or a cotton-poly blend? Broken Arrow T-Shirt Printing and Embroidery has the answers! What is a Performance T-Shirt?Fabrics that can wick away moisture are often used to make performance T-shirts and athletic wear. The T-shirt material, typically composed of synthetic fabrics, allows more air to circulate or “breathe”, which helps keep the user’s skin dry from sweat. (Pure cotton shirts, on the other hand, tend to hold moisture in.) Wicking fabrics typically cost a little more than 100 percent cotton T-shirts. Depending on what you will be doing when you wear your T-shirt, this can be money well spent. For example, if you’ll be wearing your shirts to exercise or perform physical labor, you’ll be more dry and comfortable in a custom decorated performance T-shirt. If you live in a hot climate and work outdoors, performance T-shirts and polo shirts are both excellent choices. Wicking fabric can be easily screen-printed and lend a high-quality look and feel to custom decorated apparel and are excellent choices for active businesses and organizations, and athletic events. What is a Tri-Blend T-Shirt?Like performance T-shirts, tri-blend T-shirts are an excellent alternative to a 100-percent cotton shirt. The fabric for tri-blend t-shirts is typically composed of three materials—polyester, cotton, and rayon. Professional athletes often wear tri-blend T-shirts as their warm-ups. Tri-blend custom decorated T-shirts are super-soft, wrinkle resistant, and nearly as breathable as a performance T-shirt, which makes them great for an active workout or an inactive day binge watching your favorite new Netflix series. Like Performance T-shirts, this fabric tends to be a little higher priced than 100 percent cotton or polyester-cotton blends. Tri-blends also look great when custom screen-printed with your logo or custom design. Our customers love tri-blend shirts, so you may want to consider a tri-blend for your next custom decorated apparel order.100% Cotton or a Cotton-Polyester Blend? All cotton T-shirts have been the staple for decades. They are super affordable, long lasting, and downright comfortable. They are typically a bit thicker and heavier than cotton-polyester blended T-shirts, which for some people, corresponds to quality. 100% cotton T-shirts will wrinkle and may shrink, particularly when washed in hot water. Look for all-cotton brands in our product catalog marked “pre-shrunk.” A shirt made from from cotton and polyester blend, on the other hand, is less likely to shrink or wrinkle than it’s pure cotton counterpart, and is also less likely to stain. Cotton-polyester blends are also super-affordable, too. When a cheap price is what matters most to you, go with either a 100% cotton custom decorated T-shirt, (heavier feel) or a cotton/polyester blend custom decorated T-shirt (lighter feel).Author: Amber Barz
Have you ordered this awesome new shirt for your club or team yet? Pom pom jerseys, aka Game Day jerseys are the hottest trend this spring! Pom pom jerseys pair great with a pair of leggings or jeans, and have a comfortable, relaxed look. You may know pom pom jerseys best by the big print on the upper back. At Broken Arrow, we call this a Billboard print, which gives you that big upper back print that is larger than what would fit on a standard t-shirt. In fact, our billboard print option only fits on pom pom jerseys. The billboard screen print can be about 22″ wide by about 5″ tall or so on the upper back of the shirts. Specialty inks are popular options as well. Puff ink works great on pom pom jerseys, and gives the design a raised up look and feel. Metallic specialty inks like ultra gold shimmer or silver glitter also work well to give your design some extra wow factor! You can of course add a print to the front as well if you would like. A common option is a left chest print along with the billboard print on the back, but you can mix it up however you would like! The minimum order requirement for pom pom jerseys is just 6 per design. And, the best part about custom silk screen t-shirts is you can mix different shirt colors in the order as long as the design remains the same, so you can order pom pom jerseys in a variety of colors for your group or club! Guest Blog Post!!Hello Everyone! I am Jill. I am a sales representative and have worked at Broken Arrow for over 5 years. I am also the design online t-shirt expert. I work with our IT team and the customers to give our users the best experience designing their very own custom garments! I thought it might be fun to write a blog about some of our most commonly asked questions/answers. Hopefully this can help in your endeavors to design your very own custom screen printed garment.FILE SIZE/TYPE:The best upload image is a PNG file with a transparent background and about 300×300 pixels per inch at actual size. The benefit of a PNG file is that you are able to design your own shirt while having the background change to be whichever shirt color you select. If you use a JPEG with a white background but you want it on a black t-shirt, that white background will show up (see image below). The PNG file makes the design look nicer and gives you a better picture of what it will actually look like. Second upload file best to use is a JPG file that is 300×300 pixes per inch also. This is an easily resized/maneuverable file for the online t-shirt design tool. Although these are the best files to use on the online design tool, we do like to have other file types for “production”. When you get done being your own artist, the design tool will ask you if you have any other files you want to send. At that time, send any files you have and we will pick the best one for your particular project. If you need custom artwork, contact one of our sales reps and we can help get that taken care of for you! Remember, standard artwork is free with any order over 12 pieces, so don’t hesitate to ask us to be the artist for you if being creative isn’t your thing.GARMENT SELECTION – CHOOSING THE RIGHT FABRICSDepending on the quantity that you are ordering, we do have to use specific garments for specific methods of printing. For example, single piece digital printing requires that the garment be 100% cotton. As much as we would love to be able to print on blends. the equipment just doesn’t allow for us to! Do learn more about DTG digital printing, check out this really informative YouTube Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uj1INmWR_Jg. If we were to try to do digital printing on a non-cotton garment, the result would be something our industry calls sublimation. Have you ever seen a white number on the back of the maroon shirt that looks pink? That is because of sublimation. Simply put, the dye of the fibers interacts with the dyes of the ink and Voila!- you get a color you didn’t meant to get. So, if you need less then 6 pieces, look for a garment that is at minimum 80% cotton. If you are going to be ordering 6 pieces or more, then select whichever garment is your favorite! We don’t have the same limitations with custom digital printing as we do with custom screen-printing on garments. Did you know that we have over 10,000 different garments available for your custom t-shirt printing and embroidery needs? If you don’t see what you want online, contact one of our knowledgeable sales reps and we can help you find something that fits your needs. We have burnouts, fashion oriented garments, jackets, and much more! Also, if you are interested in embroidery, contact us and we can help you through that too!ADDING MORE THAN ONE GARMENT TYPE WITH THE SAME DESIGNAnother question we get asked frequently is How do I add additional garments to the same design? With our system, you are not able to do this, but it is for good reason! Different garments have different limitations, so you cant always easily do that. The best example is youth garments vs. adult garments. The standard design size on a adult garment is 12.5 inches wide where as a youth garment is 9” wide. We do this to protect you from being able to order something that cant actually go together. There are certainly instances in which combining garments makes a lot of sense and can actually save you money such as adding 12 long sleeves to your order of 12 short sleeves. If you are interesting in adding garments to other garments on the same order, contact us and we will make sure you get the cheapest scree printed shirts possible (cheapest price of course, not cheapest quality :)).For the sake of your time, I am going to end this particular post and write a new blog post soon in regards to some other issues that you might face on the online design tool! Please remember that our sales reps are here to assist you and really love talking to our customers so give us a call if you need any help! Thanks for reading, I hope to talk to you all again soon!Jill
